Your Questions, Answered
Got a question that isn't answered on one of our other pages? Chances are it's here.
We've grouped the ones we hear most often into response times, pricing, local knowledge and licensing, based on what homeowners actually ask before booking. If your question doesn't fit neatly into any of them, that's what the phone is for.
Call (02) 9538 7444 and ask us directly, and expect a plain answer rather than a canned response.
Common questions
How Fast We Get to You
How fast can you get here?
Standard bookings run often same or next day. Anything genuinely urgent, sparks, burning smell, a board completely dead, gets pulled forward and answered around the clock.
What happens after I call?
You'll get a real person on our team, not a script or a queue. We talk through what's happening, lock in a time, and put the price in writing on site before any work starts.
How do I book?
Call (02) 9538 7444 and tell us what's going on. We'll get a time locked in, often same or next day.
Common questions
What It Costs to Get It Sorted
How do quotes work?
We look at the job, either over the phone for something simple or on site for anything bigger, and give you a fixed number in writing before we start. That's the price you pay, nothing more added later.
Is the quote really free?
Yes, genuinely free. There's no call-out fee for a quote, and you're never charged just for us turning up to have a look and talk through the options.
Do prices change once you start?
No, the number holds. If something genuinely unexpected turns up once we've opened things up, we stop work, explain exactly what we've found, and agree a new price with you before touching anything further, rather than springing a surprise on the invoice.
How do I pay?
Standard payment methods on the day of the job, and the total always matches the number we quoted unless we've agreed a change with you in advance.
Common questions
Working in and Around Normanhurst
Do you know Normanhurst's housing stock?
We do. Plenty of the period cottages here still run their original ceramic fuse holders, sitting alongside newer builds near the station wired to modern standards from the outset.
Why do Normanhurst's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
Original boards were sized for a much lighter household load than today's appliances actually draw. Ageing fuse wire, missing safety switches and a general lack of spare capacity are the usual triggers for the call.
What suburbs do you service?
Normanhurst plus Thornleigh, Hornsby, Wahroonga, Pennant Hills, Waitara and Beecroft, everything within the wider Hornsby Shire footprint we cover every week.
Do you work on heritage or strata properties?
Yes, where the work genuinely calls for it. Period homes need a careful hand around original features and cornices, and strata jobs get the same written quotes and compliance paperwork as any residential job.
Common questions
Licensing and Safety
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, Master Electricians Australia member, and fully insured on every job.
What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?
It's a device that cuts power the instant it detects current leaking to earth, protecting people from serious shock. Most Normanhurst homes with an original switchboard are still missing at least one on some circuits.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
The wiring rules every licensed electrician in Australia has to follow, covering everything from cable sizing to how a switchboard is laid out. All our work is completed to that standard, no exceptions and no shortcuts.
Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?
No. Electrical work is licensed work under NSW law with genuine penalties for doing it yourself, and beyond the legal risk you're also putting your safety and any future insurance claim on the line.
